Rebranding U&lc

U&lc’s new brand identity brings it into the 21st century while still retaining some of the original aesthetic made famous by Lubalin. In staying true to its roots, the updated logo uses ITC Avant Garde Gothic and the relaunch issue is titled “The ITC Originals Issue”—which features the same typefaces promoted in the inaugural 1973 publication. The cover’s singularly focused ampersand bleeding off its edges, pages lined with asymmetrical blocks of text, and change from newsprint to coated paper all position the magazine in line with current trends.
